Cliff Cash hit his first open mic in 2011 at the age of 31. He didn’t miss a Thursday open mic after that for about a year. Within 2 years Cliff won Port City’s Top Comic, Comedy Central’s UpNext Regionals, Comedy Zone’s Almost Famous and landed himself on Sirius XM. In the years that followed, Cash racked up an impressive list of comedy credits and life scars. The highs and lows ranged from a divorce to a number one comedy album, from the death of his father to a Dry Bar Comedy special.

Despite accolades like being a finalist for Standup NBC, having two albums reach number one, being on Laughs TV, Rooftop Comedy and more, Cliff was toiling away in the shadows of obscurity reluctant to take the traditional path of moving to New York or Los Angeles. Cash focused instead on honing his craft and building connections nationwide performing in nearly every state in the lower 48, touring for months at a time, living in a station wagon, camping, hiking and exploring between gigs. Many years he slept more nights under the stars than under a roof. He saw 45 of the nations 62 national parks and stumbled upon the passion of nature photography that he now sells as merch at his shows. Cliff lived in his old sprinter van for months at a time all over the U.S. and México.

Finally Cliff gave in to the pressure of the social media path. He decided that 2025 would be the year he finally put his energy into his long neglected online presence. Jeremy Bivins, a beloved Pleasure Island resident who has rescued local wildlife for more than a decade, is securing his Rabies Vector Species (RVS) permit from the state. This certification will allow him to legally rehabilitate raccoons, bats, foxes and otters. Jeremy is seeking funds to complete the cage updates required by law, as well as his own vaccinations and to purchase medical supplies for the animals he’ll soon provide care for. The successful completion of this permitting process will result in Jeremy significantly expanding the number of species he can help on Pleasure Island and throughout New Hanover County, plus surrounding counties as well.

This afternoon of dancing and splashing is also a fundraiser for our Carolina Beach Fire Department and the Carolina Beach Ocean Rescue teams! Members of the CBFD will be filling your pools, so please come prepared with a donation for their boots. Last year we raised over $7,000 for the CBFD & CBOR, but this year we are shooting for $10K+!

This free event is being hosted at the Kindred again (formerly the Deck House restaurant). Unlike last year, ALE rules have changed and they can no longer allow outside beverages to be brought to this event, but cold drinks, wine, beer and cocktails, will be available from the Kindred staff and a portion of bar proceeds will go to CBFD & CBOR. We'll also have the Savory Southern Cuisine food truck onsite! Limited edition CBBC Pool Party T-shirts will also be for $ale with 100% of proceeds going to CBFD & CBOR!
